My professional journey
I’m Vlad—a Senior/Lead Product & UX Designer who builds calm, clear products for messy domains. I stay close to the craft: mapping information architecture, naming things well, stress-testing flows, writing precise microcopy, and designing token-based systems that scale without noise. My work spans 13+ years across healthcare/medical (eCOA, patient & clinician tools), enterprise SaaS, and commerce — plus real surfaces like kiosks, POS, and automated retail, where lighting, latency, and failure states matter. Accessibility is considered from day one. I prefer evidence over theatrics and bring AI in only when it measurably reduces effort and increases trust.
My path is Riga → Copenhagen → London → Lisbon → Riga → London, with the majority of my career—9+ years—spent in London, where I learned to operate at scale and in regulated environments. Each city left its mark. Copenhagen introduced me to the Scandinavian sense of calm and simplicity in design—the idea that clarity and restraint can be more powerful than excess, and that the best products often feel invisible in daily use. London gave me the rigor of shipping with audit trails and high stakes; Lisbon sharpened my bias toward lean, remote-first, ship-often teams; and returning to Riga kept me rooted in hands-on craft.
Living and working across these places taught me to design for different languages, cultures, and time zones — and to value documentation that survives handoffs. Across every context, I partner closely with product and engineering, translate research into decisions, and keep teams aligned through clarity — design systems, shared vocabularies, and predictable patterns. Personality-wise, I like the unglamorous parts: edge cases, offline modes, empty states, and the seams where systems break — because that’s where trust is won. I read the regs so users don’t have to. Outside client work, I’m writing a psychological thriller and building Animo, a pet-data platform that turns raw signals into useful, humane guidance. I’m open to Senior/Lead Product & UX roles (full-time or contract) across UK/EU, hybrid or remote.
